Job Title

ATE HW Design Technical Leader

Role Summary

Lead design and delivery of automated test equipment (ATE) hardware including probe cards, load boards, and mechanical interfaces for wafer sort and package-level final test for automotive and industrial semiconductor devices. Member of the Product and Test Engineering team responsible for electrical and mechanical specifications, validation, and factory integration of ATE hardware solutions.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies a minimum of more than 20 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include leading design, validation, vendor coordination, and documentation for ATE hardware across multiple products and test cells.

  • Lead review, creation, and design of ATE probe cards and load boards from schematic capture through PCB layout and component placement.
  • Define, develop, and qualify electrical and mechanical specifications for ATE equipment used in roadmap test systems.
  • Lead integration, validation, qualification, and factory acceptance testing of ATE hardware solutions.
  • Apply analog, RF, and high-speed digital test methods to influence PCB and system-level hardware design.
  • Serve as primary technical interface for external PCB, socket, handler, and prober vendors; drive vendor selection and qualification.
  • Manage BoM selection and assembly instructions for loadboards and probe-cards.
  • Liaise between NPD/NPI and factory to validate HW/SW at factory test cells and ensure production requirements are met (prober/handler interfaces, socket/pin qualifications, temperature test capabilities).
  • Develop and document verification and validation procedures and laboratory-equipment documentation (user manuals, setup guides, training materials).
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues; document findings and corrective actions; communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and personal abilities required to perform the role.

  • More than 20 years of experience in Test PCB / loadboard hardware design and/or ATE hardware mechanical interface design.
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of RF, analog, and mixed-signal test methods and their ATE HW design implications.
  • Proficiency with PCB design and mechanical CAD tools and circuit simulation tools (examples listed by employer: AutoCAD, PSpice) and Microsoft Visio for documentation.
  • Ability to author process documents and standard operating procedures for an engineering lab.
  • Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action capabilities for board, interconnect, and system-interface issues.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex ATE hardware issues and drive resolutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; self-driven, able to manage multiple tasks and collaborate across global teams with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). The posting pairs this degree requirement with a minimum of more than 20 years of relevant Test PCB/loadboard and ATE hardware interface experience.
