Job Title

ATE and SLT Hardware Engineer

Role Summary

Design, verify, and support ATE and SLT interface hardware used for IC final test and system-level test. The role focuses on test sockets, thermal plungers, load boards, and test fixtures across product bring-up and high-volume manufacturing.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires around 5+ years of relevant experience in IC testing engineering and ATE/SLT hardware.

Responsibilities

Provide hardware solutions, lead validation and troubleshooting, and support production readiness for ATE/SLT test equipment.

  • Review and approve designs for test sockets, thermal plungers, and ATE/SLT accessories.
  • Develop hardware solutions from design through manufacturing order, schedule tracking, verification, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive socket and thermal technology development, qualifications, and design-of-experiments (DOE).
  • Gather and analyze engineering data; recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide hands-on lab support, including socket pin repair, wiring, and small component work; weekend support may be required.
  • Host and lead project meetings with internal and external collaborators.
  • Troubleshoot ATE/SLT setups: sockets, thermal plungers, PCBs, chillers, and handlers; perform root-cause analysis.
  • Handle physical tasks such as unboxing/transporting load boards (lifting up to ~30 lbs) and practice ESD prevention and control.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IC testing engineering and ATE/SLT hardware engineering.
  • Practical experience with test sockets, thermal plungers, load boards, and fixture hardware; ability to maintain and repair these items.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical circuit information.
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills; ability to propose and implement preventive actions.
  • Hands-on aptitude for fine mechanical and electrical work (pins, wires, small capacitors/resistors).
  • Ability to support on-duty lab operations and occasional weekend work.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with socket signal integrity and related SI considerations.
  • Knowledge of ATE tester platforms and their integration with interface hardware.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is required or equivalent practical experience. The posting explicitly states "or equivalent experience." Advanced degrees are not required but EE/ME fields are preferred.
