Associate Engineer, Product Engineering (Prod Dev)
Role Summary
Product Engineer responsible for delivering improvement initiatives and sustaining product performance and yield in supplier manufacturing factories. Works on yield improvement, product characterization, test-time reduction, process simplification, and qualification activities to reduce cost and alleviate capacity constraints.
Experience Level
Entry-level - new graduate or up to 1 year of relevant electronics engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include technical support for supplier fabs and driving projects that improve yield, quality, and test efficiency.
- Lead and support yield-improvement projects at supplier manufacturing facilities.
- Perform product characterization for new-product requirements and post-release issues.
- Conduct failure analysis and root-cause debugging.
- Reduce test time and simplify process flows to address capacity constraints.
- Support product qualification for new materials, fabs, or processes.
- Sustain product performance and manage yield metrics with suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and supplier engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and work habits.
- Proficient in product testing, failure analysis, and debugging techniques.
- Strong statistical analysis and problem-solving skills; experience with JMP and PDF Exensio Test/Yield.
- Ability to analyze both analog and digital circuitry.
- Hands-on experience with testers such as Teradyne, Flex, NI, and Eagle.
- Experience programming in C++, C#, and Visual Basic.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- No travel required.
- Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Catalyst tester and LabView programming.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering. New graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of relevant experience are acceptable. Good scholastic record and strong communication skills expected.
