Associate Engineer
Role Summary
Work on implementation and physical design of Arm cores, systems and SoCs within the Solution Engineering implementation team. The role focuses on synthesis, timing closure and implementation methodology to ensure Arm IP meets partner requirements on advanced process nodes.
Collaborate with RTL designers, customers, EDA vendors and other Arm engineering groups to drive implementation quality, tooling and silicon demonstration efforts.
Experience Level
Entry-level - typically 2+ years of ASIC/SoC implementation experience (RTL to GDS).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include implementation, analysis and methodology development for Arm IP and SoCs.
- Synthesis, physical design and implementation of Arm cores, systems and SoCs.
- Analyze timing, area and power; propose and implement optimizations.
- Develop and deploy implementation methodologies to improve results and efficiency.
- Support detailed implementation analysis, data-mining and build/signoff processes.
- Work with RTL and physical-IP teams to drive analysis and optimization.
- Engage with customers and EDA vendors on implementation requirements and tooling.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and abilities.
- 2+ years of proven ASIC/SoC implementation experience from RTL to GDS.
- Practical experience with synthesis, timing constraints development and timing closure.
- Experience with tape-outs of multi-million gate designs on modern process technologies.
- Ability to develop and work with timing constraints for build and signoff.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with scripting and data presentation languages (Tcl, Shell, Perl, Python).
- Experience with low-power design techniques (power gating, voltage/frequency scaling).
- Verilog RTL design experience.
- Understanding of DFT modes and their implications for physical design.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field; equivalent practical experience also acceptable.
