ASIC Verification Engineer - New College Grad 2027

Role Summary

Verify the design and implementation of SoCs and GPUs with a focus on memory subsystem units and hardware/firmware interactions. Work on verification scope, infrastructure, and test plans to ensure correctness of micro-architecture and system behavior.

Collaborate across architects, designers, and software engineers to deliver robust verification environments and debug complex issues.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate). Ideal for candidates just completing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree; suitable for early-career engineers.

Responsibilities

Primary verification responsibilities include:

  • Verify design, architecture, and micro-architecture using advanced verification methodologies.
  • Define verification scope and contribute to verification infrastructure for memory subsystem units.
  • Verify firmware and hardware/firmware interaction behavior.
  • Develop reusable verification components and verification plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate verification results and resolve issues.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience.

  • Knowledge of verification methodology and creating reusable verification components.
  • Experience with random stimulus, functional coverage, and assertion-based verification methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented programming using SystemVerilog.
  • Exposure to simulation and debug tools (e.g., VCS or equivalent simulators; debug tools such as Debussy, GDB).
  • Familiarity with UVM or equivalent verification frameworks.
  • Strong debugging skills and problem-solving ability.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior verification experience with high-speed I/O protocols or memory coherence.
  • Experience debugging embedded firmware (C or RISC-V assembly).
  • Knowledge of embedded microcontrollers and/or RISC-V architecture.
  • Experience writing detailed verification plans and coverage models.

Education Requirements

Pursuing or recently completed a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
