ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
The ASIC Verification Engineer designs and executes verification plans for VLSI/ASIC components used in HPE hardware platforms. The role works on a hybrid team based in Durham, NC and typically requires approximately two days per week in an HPE office.
Primary responsibilities include developing verification environments, debugging RTL and silicon issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable ASIC solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 3+ years of VLSI verification experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities for this role include:
- Develop and maintain verification environments and testbenches (SystemVerilog/UVM).
- Create and execute verification plans, testcases, and coverage metrics for ASIC/VLSI blocks.
- Debug RTL, simulation failures, and silicon bring-up issues; triage and document root causes.
- Collaborate with architects, design, firmware, and validation teams on design intent and verification strategy.
- Represent the verification team across project phases and communicate status and risks to management.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

Must-have: 3+ years of hands-on VLSI/ASIC verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM.

Must-have: Strong knowledge of digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture; proven experience verifying and debugging integrated circuits and related algorithms.

Must-have: Experience with programming and scripting, hardware description languages, and common EDA/FPGA tools.

Must-have: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice-to-have: Experience leading verification efforts on complex projects or coordinating with outsourced development partners.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with physical implementation considerations, DFT, or silicon bring-up workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or exposure to VLSI design or VLSI concepts is noted as relevant.
