ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Design, verify, and validate VLSI/ASIC components and related hardware systems for enterprise products. The role leads and partners with cross-functional VLSI teams and external development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective silicon from architecture through prototype and production.
Position is onsite at an HPE office in Roseville, CA and involves technical leadership, design review, and hands-on verification work.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 6β10 years of experience in VLSI/ASIC design, verification, or implementation with demonstrated technical leadership.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical leadership of VLSI projects, design verification, and ensuring quality and compliance of VLSI deliverables.
- Lead project teams of electronic/VLSI engineers and internal/outsourced partners through all stages of VLSI design, validation, and testing.
- Define and review architecture and logic design; develop and validate verification strategies and simulations.
- Conduct design reviews and evaluate compliance with VLSI technology guidelines and standards; provide actionable feedback to improve product quality.
- Provide platform-level architecture leadership and integrate VLSI solutions into cross-organization projects.
- Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers; participate in technical leader selection and capability development.
- Drive VLSI innovation and introduce new technologies and methodologies into the design organization.
Requirements

- 6β10 years of professional experience in VLSI design, verification, or implementation.
- Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and UVM-based verification methodologies.
- Strong software and scripting skills: C/C++ and scripting such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
- Experience with EDA and FPGA tools for design, simulation, and verification.
- Deep understanding of digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise independent technical judgment.
- Experience leading teams, providing technical direction, and mentoring engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Nice-to-have: Specman knowledge, patents/publications in VLSI or hardware design, and prior platform/architecture leadership.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. The posting also references coursework or knowledge in VLSI design/concepts as relevant background.
