Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Technical lead role on Acacia's ASIC verification team focusing on next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs. The engineer will design verification strategies, lead verification projects, and improve verification processes for complex mixed-signal/digital ASICs.

The role is cross-functional and involves mentoring teammates, collaborating with design and system leads, and delivering high-quality verification coverage for production silicon.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 8+ years of related experience (or equivalent practical experience). This is a technical lead contributor role requiring independent operation and leadership within verification projects.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, and overseeing ASIC verification activities.

  • Lead development of detailed verification test plans and strategies.
  • Design and develop verification testbenches and harnesses.
  • Apply advanced, object-oriented verification methodologies to complex designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate execution of verification tasks across the team.
  • Review verification code, functional coverage, and closure metrics.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers on verification techniques and tools.
  • Collaborate with design, system, and lab teams to integrate verification with silicon bring-up and validation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Strong experience with SystemVerilog and UVM-based verification methodologies.
  • Proficiency in C++ and familiarity with SystemC.
  • Experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming for automation.
  • Demonstrable experience applying object-oriented verification techniques and developing verification infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to lead technical verification projects and mentor engineers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
  • Lab silicon validation experience and in-house IP development background.
  • Experience with Formal Verification tools and methodologies (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
  • Familiarity with advanced C++ features such as templates.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, PhD plus 3 years related experience, or equivalent related work experience. Specific fields of study were not specified.
