ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Work on verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs for Cisco’s Acacia product line. The role is a senior technical contributor and verification lead responsible for ensuring design quality, driving verification strategy, and mentoring teammates across complex ASIC projects.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor’s + 8 years, Master’s + 6 years, PhD + 3 years, or equivalent related work experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of ASIC verification efforts and delivery of comprehensive verification closure.

  • Lead and develop detailed verification test plans and schedules.
  • Design, develop, and maintain verification testbenches and infrastructure.
  • Apply advanced verification techniques and object-oriented methodologies to complex designs.
  • Define, review, and track coverage metrics and verification code quality.
  • Supervise and coordinate execution of test plans across the team.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and process improvements for the verification organization.
  • Collaborate with design, firmware, lab, and systems teams to integrate verification and silicon validation activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: Practical experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting; strong C++ skills; SystemVerilog/UVM; SystemC; solid knowledge of object-oriented verification methodologies; excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation (e.g., QAM), C++ templates, in-house IP development, formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal), lab silicon validation, and prior experience leading ASIC technical teams.
