ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Work on verification of next-generation 100Gβ1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs within Cisco's Acacia team. The role is a senior technical contributor and technical lead responsible for ensuring design quality through advanced verification strategies, driving verification projects, and mentoring team members.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical background: multi-year ASIC verification experience with demonstrated technical leadership; company lists degree + years combinations (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership for ASIC verification across the project lifecycle and enable the team to execute effective verification plans.
- Lead development of detailed verification test plans and comprehensive test benches.
- Apply advanced verification methodologies and innovative techniques to complex designs.
- Supervise and coordinate execution of verification plans across the team.
- Review verification code, metrics, and coverage; drive improvements to quality and processes.
- Provide technical mentorship and knowledge transfer to engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate verification approaches and tools.
- Operate independently in a fast-paced environment and create bespoke verification solutions when required.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Proven experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
- Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
- Proficiency in C++ and familiarity with object-oriented verification methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead verification tasks and mentor other engineers.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading ASIC technical teams and in-house IP development.
- Knowledge of DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g. QAM).
- Experience with C++ templates and lab silicon validation.
- Experience with Formal Verification tools and methodologies (e.g. Jasper, VCFormal).
Education Requirements
Posted minimums: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Master's plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. (The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in place of a degree.)
