Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Senior verification engineer and technical lead responsible for planning and executing verification of high-speed optical communications ASICs (100G–1.6T) within the Acacia ASIC team. The role focuses on defining verification strategies, developing verification environments, improving team processes, and mentoring engineers.

This is a hybrid position based in Maynard, MA; the engineer will work closely with cross-functional ASIC, DSP, silicon photonics, and lab teams to deliver production-quality silicon.

Experience Level

Senior. This is a technical lead role requiring substantial, demonstrable ASIC verification experience; see Education Requirements for the hiring experience guidelines.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include leading verification planning and execution, designing test environments, and providing technical leadership and mentorship.

  • Lead development of detailed, comprehensive verification test plans.
  • Design and implement verification testbenches and environments.
  • Apply advanced verification methodologies and innovative techniques to complex ASIC designs.
  • Oversee and coordinate execution of test plans across the verification team.
  • Review verification code and coverage metrics; drive improvements to achieve quality targets.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and promote best practices.
  • Collaborate with design, firmware, DSP, and validation teams to integrate verification and lab validation activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role.

  • Proven experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming.
  • Strong experience in C++.
  • Experience with SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Experience with SystemC.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical verification projects and mentor engineers.
  • Ability to operate independently and provide technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
  • Experience developing in-house IP and leading ASIC technical teams.
  • C++ templates and advanced C++ usage.
  • Lab silicon validation experience.
  • Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
  • Track record of innovations that improved verification or design quality.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience requirements: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years of related experience, or PhD plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalent related work experience.
