ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Technical lead engineer responsible for verification of high-speed coherent optical ASICs used in 100G–1.6T systems. The role sits on the Acacia team at Cisco and focuses on producing high-quality verification plans, testbenches, and novel verification solutions while mentoring teammates.
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, executing, and improving ASIC verification for complex designs.
- Lead and develop detailed verification test plans and strategies.
- Design and develop verification testbenches and infrastructure.
- Apply advanced verification techniques and methodologies to complex ASICs.
- Supervise and coordinate timely execution of test plans by the team.
- Review verification code and coverage metrics; drive quality improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers on verification methods and tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adopt new test technologies and processes.
Requirements

- Must-have: Extensive experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
- Must-have: Proficiency in C++.
- Must-have: Experience with SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC; knowledge of object-oriented verification methodologies.
- Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to lead technical efforts.
- Nice-to-have: Track record of innovation that produced measurable improvements.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with in-house IP development and leading ASIC technical teams.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM), C++ templates, lab silicon validation, and formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, OR Master’s plus 6 years, OR PhD plus 3 years, OR equivalent related work experience. (No specific fields of study or certifications were specified.)
