Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Senior verification engineer and technical lead responsible for verification of complex ASICs used in 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications products. Works on verification strategy, test plans, and testbench development for DSP ASICs and related subsystems.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience profile in the posting: Bachelor's +8 years, Master's +6 years, PhD +3 years, or equivalent related work experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities and providing technical leadership to the team.

  • Lead development of detailed verification test plans.
  • Design and implement verification testbenches and environments.
  • Apply advanced verification techniques to complex ASIC designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate timely execution of verification tasks across the team.
  • Review verification code, functional coverage, and metrics.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adopt new verification technologies and processes.

Requirements

Key technical skills and attributes required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Strong experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages; knowledge of object-oriented verification methodologies.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog/UVM, SystemC, and C++.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to design verification environments and write comprehensive testbenches.
  • Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience leading ASIC technical teams, in-house IP development, DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g. QAM), C++ templates, lab silicon validation, and formal verification tools (e.g. Jasper, VCFormal).
