Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Senior technical lead responsible for verifying complex ASICs used in next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications products. The role focuses on ensuring design quality through advanced verification techniques, developing verification solutions and processes, and providing technical leadership to the verification team.

Work within Acacia at Cisco on DSP ASICs, silicon photonic PICs, and coherent modules. This is a hybrid role with regular on-site collaboration at the Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Technical Lead). This is a senior contributor role; see Education Requirements for degree and years-of-experience equivalency.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities, leading verification projects, and mentoring team members.

  • Lead development of detailed and comprehensive verification test plans.
  • Design, develop, and maintain verification test benches and environments.
  • Apply advanced and object-oriented verification methodologies to complex designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate timely execution of test plans across the team.
  • Review verification code, test results, and coverage metrics; drive improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers on the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adopt new test technologies and processes.
  • Operate independently to create verification solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and preferred qualifications are listed below.

  • Must-have: Strong experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, verification tools, and scripting/programming.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
  • Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented verification techniques.
  • Proven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
  • Experience developing verification environments and analyzing coverage metrics.
  • Nice-to-have: Lab silicon validation experience, experience with in-house IP development, experience leading ASIC technical teams, familiarity with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM), and experience with C++ templates.
  • Experience with formal verification methodologies and tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal) is preferred.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of related experience, or Master’s degree plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. The posting did not specify required fields of study or certifications.
