ASIC Verification Engineer — Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Senior technical lead responsible for verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs within Cisco’s Acacia team. Focus areas include verification strategy, testbench development, process improvements, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure design quality.
This is a hybrid role based in Maynard, MA with three days per week in the office.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of ASIC verification activities and delivering verification solutions for complex designs.
- Lead development of detailed test plans and verification strategies.
- Design and develop verification testbenches using UVM/SystemVerilog and related methodologies.
- Apply advanced verification techniques to complex designs and supervise test execution.
- Review verification code and coverage metrics; drive quality improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to verification engineers.
- Collaborate with design, firmware, and validation teams to incorporate test technologies and processes.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Proven expertise with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and flows.
- Strong experience with SystemVerilog and UVM; familiarity with SystemC.
- Proficiency in C++ and common scripting/programming languages used in verification.
- Experience with object-oriented verification methodologies and advanced verification techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members.
- Effective written and verbal communication for cross-team collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading ASIC technical teams and in-house IP development.
- Familiarity with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
- C++ template programming experience.
- Lab silicon bring-up and silicon validation experience.
- Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
- Track record of innovation and process improvements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree plus ~8 years related experience, Master’s plus ~6 years, PhD plus ~3 years, or equivalent related work experience. Specific fields of study were not specified in the posting.
