ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Senior verification engineer and technical lead on Acacia ASIC teams, focused on verifying high-speed coherent optical communication ASICs (100G–1.6T). The role leads verification strategy, testbench development, and coverage-driven verification to ensure design quality for next-generation optical interconnect products.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requires multi-year senior experience (examples given: Bachelors +8 years, Masters +6 years, PhD +3 years or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

Work as a technical lead to define and execute verification efforts for complex ASIC designs.

  • Lead development of detailed verification plans and test strategies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain verification testbenches (SystemVerilog/UVM, SystemC).
  • Apply advanced verification techniques and tools to meet coverage goals.
  • Oversee timely execution of test plans and track coverage/quality metrics.
  • Review verification code, assertions, and coverage results; drive improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Integrate lab silicon validation and incorporate new verification processes/technologies.

Requirements

  • Extensive ASIC verification experience using modern methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM; experience with SystemC.
  • Strong C++ skills and familiarity with object-oriented verification methods.
  • Experience developing verification testbenches, test plans, and coverage-driven verification.
  • Experience with scripting/programming for verification automation and tooling.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineering teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Nice-to-have: DSP algorithm and modulation knowledge (e.g., QAM), C++ templates, lab silicon validation, formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal), and in-house IP development experience.

Education Requirements
