Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Technical lead responsible for verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs within Cisco Acacia. Focus areas include creating verification plans, developing and maintaining testbenches, applying advanced verification methodologies, driving process improvements, and mentoring engineers.

This is a senior individual-contributor/technical-lead role operating in a hybrid model (three days per week onsite at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office).

Experience Level

Senior (Technical Lead). Typical experience expectation: Bachelor's +8 years, Master's +6 years, or PhD +3 years, or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead creation and execution of detailed ASIC verification plans and coverage strategies.
  • Design, develop, and maintain verification testbenches using object-oriented methodologies.
  • Apply advanced verification techniques and tools to validate complex designs.
  • Review verification code and coverage metrics; supervise timely execution of test plans by the team.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor teammates, and drive process and tool improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adopt latest test technologies and perform lab silicon validation.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Strong experience with SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
  • Proficiency in C++; experience with C++ templates is preferred.
  • Experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead verification efforts and mentor engineering staff.
  • Lab silicon bring-up and validation experience (preferred).
  • Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal) and DSP/modulation techniques (e.g., QAM) is beneficial.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years related experience, Master's plus 6+ years, or PhD plus 3+ years, or equivalent related work experience. The posting does not specify a required field of study; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
