ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Senior technical lead responsible for verification of next‑generation coherent optical ASICs (100G–1.6T) within the Acacia team at Cisco. The role focuses on developing verification strategies, building testbenches, ensuring design quality, and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities
Work as a senior verification engineer/technical lead to validate complex ASIC designs for high-speed optical products.
- Lead development of detailed verification test plans and coverage goals.
- Design and implement verification test benches and test infrastructure.
- Apply advanced verification methodologies and innovative techniques to complex designs.
- Supervise and coordinate execution of verification tasks across the team.
- Review verification code, results, and coverage metrics; drive closure of verification items.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers on verification methods and tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate verification with design and lab validation.
- Develop and incorporate process and tool improvements for verification efficiency.

Must-have:
- Experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
- Proficiency in C++ and familiarity with object-oriented verification methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead verification efforts and to create verification plans and testbenches.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical leadership and cross-team coordination.

Nice-to-have:
- Experience with in-house IP development and leading ASIC technical teams.
- DSP algorithms and modulation knowledge (e.g., QAM); C++ templates.
- Lab silicon validation experience.
- Experience with Formal Verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
- Track record of process or tool innovations that improved verification outcomes.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, or PhD plus 3 years related experience, or equivalent related work experience. No specific fields of study or certifications are specified.
