ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Work on verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communication ASICs within Cisco's Acacia team. This senior technical role focuses on defining and executing verification strategies, developing testbenches and test plans, improving team processes, and mentoring engineers.
This is a hybrid role that requires three days per week at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience: Bachelor's + 8 years, Master's + 6 years, PhD + 3 years, or equivalent related work experience.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities include planning, executing, and leading ASIC verification activities for complex optical communication designs.
- Lead development of detailed verification test plans.
- Design and implement verification testbenches and harnesses.
- Apply advanced verification techniques to complex designs.
- Oversee and coordinate execution of test plans across the team.
- Review verification code, results, and coverage metrics; drive closure of verification gaps.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor teammates on verification methods and tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate new test technologies and processes.
- Contribute to lab silicon validation as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Proven experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies and tools.
- Proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM and experience with SystemC.
- Proficient in C++ and general scripting/programming languages for automation.
- Familiarity with object-oriented verification methodologies and verification best practices.
- Experience developing verification testbenches and working with coverage-driven verification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
- Experience with in-house IP development and leading ASIC technical teams.
- Experience with C++ templates.
- Lab silicon validation experience.
- Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify one of: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Master’s plus 6 years, PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. No specific field of study or certifications were mandated; the posting permits equivalent practical experience.
