Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Senior technical lead responsible for verification of next‑generation coherent optical communication ASICs (100G–1.6T) within the Acacia team. The role focuses on designing test plans, building verification environments, applying advanced verification techniques, and providing technical leadership and mentorship.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior — technical lead. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's + 8 years, Master's + 6 years, PhD + 3 years, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include leading verification efforts and delivering high quality ASIC verification results.

  • Lead and develop detailed, comprehensive verification test plans.
  • Design and implement verification testbenches and environments.
  • Apply advanced and object‑oriented verification methodologies to complex designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate timely execution of test plans across the team.
  • Review verification code and coverage metrics; drive improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor team members on verification techniques and tools.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to incorporate new test technologies and processes.
  • Operate independently to create verification solutions in a fast‑paced environment.

Requirements

Must‑have technical skills and experience.

  • Proven experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
  • Proficiency in C++.
  • Experience with SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Experience with SystemC.
  • Knowledge of object‑oriented verification methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead technical projects.

Nice‑to‑have:

  • Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
  • Experience with C++ templates and in‑house IP development.
  • Lab silicon validation experience.
  • Experience leading ASIC technical teams.
  • Familiarity with formal verification methodologies and tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. (No specific field-of-study or certifications specified in the posting.)
