ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify ASIC/VLSI components within a product engineering team. The role focuses on developing verification environments, validating designs, and collaborating with internal and outsourced partners to deliver production-ready integrated circuits. This is a hybrid role based in Durham, NC (expectation ~2 days per week onsite).
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires 3+ years of experience in VLSI/ASIC verification (per posting).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute verification plans, testbenches, and environments for ASIC/VLSI designs.
- Verify and debug integrated circuits, architectures, and algorithms using SystemVerilog/UVM.
- Collaborate with design, validation, test, and outsourced partners to report status and resolve issues.
- Represent the team across phases of VLSI development (design, validation, prototype, production).
- Analyze simulation and lab test results to drive design improvements and enable production solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on VLSI/ASIC verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Strong knowledge of digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture.
- Experience verifying and debugging complex integrated circuitry and related algorithms.
- Proficiency with programming/scripting, hardware description languages, and EDA/FPGA tools.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and clear written/verbal communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience coordinating with internal and outsourced development partners.
- Prior project lead or mentoring experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline; or equivalent practical experience. Posting also references coursework/background in VLSI design or VLSI concepts.
