ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop verification environments and test suites for block-, subsystem-, and full-chip ASICs. Work with logic designers and software teams to validate designs, drive tape-out readiness, and improve verification infrastructure.
Position sits on an engineering verification team at an HPE office in Bengaluru and focuses on functional verification using SystemVerilog and industry-standard methodologies.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires 3+ years of ASIC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building verification environments, defining and executing tests, and collaborating across design and software teams.
- Develop and enhance ASIC verification environments using UVM and related methodologies.
- Architect and build block-level, subsystem, and full-chip verification environments with SystemVerilog/UVM.
- Define, design, and execute verification suites and test cases using front-end simulators (e.g., VCS, NC).
- Independently verify large ASIC blocks and assess tape-out readiness via code and functional coverage and gate-level simulation.
- Collaborate with logic designers to debug and resolve design issues; support software teams during bring-up and validation.
- Develop scripts (Perl, Python, Shell, Tcl) to automate and improve verification infrastructure and methodology.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list separates essentials from nice-to-have items.
- Must-have: 3+ years of ASIC verification experience.
- Must-have: Strong experience with SystemVerilog for verification.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with verification methodologies such as UVM, OVM, or VMM.
- Must-have: Experience with constrained-random verification techniques and coverage-driven verification.
- Must-have: Proficiency in scripting for verification infrastructure (Perl or Tcl preferred; Python or Shell acceptable).
- Nice-to-have: Experience verifying networking protocols such as Ethernet.
- Nice-to-have: Strong debugging, analytical, and collaboration skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE).
