ASIC Validation Intern
Role Summary
The ASIC Validation Intern will support silicon bring-up and validation for next-generation ASIC products. The role works within the ASIC Validation team, collaborating with design, verification, and firmware engineers to validate and characterize devices, improve validation infrastructure, and adopt automation and AI-enabled workflows.
Experience Level
Entry-level (internship). Typical experience: 0β2 years through internships, academic projects, research, or lab work.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on validation, automation, analysis, and communication of results.
- Support silicon bring-up, testing, and validation activities in collaboration with validation, design verification, and firmware teams.
- Operate electronic laboratory equipment and validation environments to characterize device functionality and performance.
- Develop or improve scripts, automation tools, and AI-assisted workflows to increase validation efficiency and aid failure analysis.
- Analyze validation data, debug complex issues, and evaluate AI-generated insights using engineering judgment.
- Document technical findings and present results and recommendations to engineering teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: 0β2 years of relevant experience from internships, research, academic projects, laboratory work, or related engineering activities.
- Must-have: Basic understanding of ASIC design, silicon bring-up, validation methodologies, or semiconductor development processes.
- Must-have: Practical experience using electronic laboratory equipment through coursework, research, or projects.
- Must-have: Familiarity with generative AI tools and large language models (e.g., Copilot, Claude) and ability to critically evaluate AI-assisted outputs.
- Must-have: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team.
- Nice-to-have: Programming experience with Python, C/C++, SystemVerilog, or similar languages for automation and validation.
- Nice-to-have: Prior internship, research, or project experience in ASIC validation, hardware testing, or semiconductor product development.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with AI-assisted development, prompt engineering, workflow automation, data analysis, version control (Git), or test automation frameworks.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of responsible AI practices, data governance, and human-in-the-loop validation.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
