ASIC Technical Program Manager
EtchedJob Title
ASIC Technical Program Manager
Role Summary
The ASIC Technical Program Manager will drive technical execution for Etched's silicon programs. This is a hands-on role that coordinates cross-functional teams (Physical Design, DFT, DV, RTL, Post-Silicon) and manages external partners to deliver tape-out milestones.
You will own schedule, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication across the RTL-to-GDSII flow, working closely with engineering leads and external vendors to keep projects on track.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 5+ years of technical program management, engineering program management, or a closely related role in the semiconductor or hardware space.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate multi-team ASIC development programs from RTL through tape-out and post-silicon verification.
- Own cross-functional program management across Physical Design, DFT, DV, RTL, and Post-Silicon teams; track dependencies and signoff gates.
- Manage external vendors (EDA, IP providers, implementation partners); enforce timelines and deliverables.
- Identify critical-path risks and schedule slippage; develop and drive mitigation plans with engineering leads.
- Plan and execute schedules for tape-out milestones, synthesis respins, ECO cycles, and signoff activities.
- Provide clear, regular status updates to engineering leads and executive stakeholders; facilitate decisions and resolve cross-team disagreements.
- Maintain program tracking, action owners, and open items; support adoption of tooling and dashboards for visibility.
- Communicate credibly with engineers across the design stack about technical tradeoffs and execution details.
Requirements
Core qualifications and skills required for immediate contribution to first-silicon programs.
Must-have:- At least one full ASIC tape-out experience; able to describe the end-to-end process.
- Solid understanding of the RTL-to-GDSII flow and inter-team handoffs (Physical Design, DFT, DV, RTL).
- 5+ years in technical program management or equivalent within semiconductor/hardware domains.
- Direct experience working with EDA vendors or implementation partners and holding vendor engagements accountable.
- Exceptional follow-through and proactive execution; ability to chase dependencies and resolve blockers.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
