Job Title

ASIC/SoC Silicon Test Engineer

Role Summary

Join Google's AI and Infrastructure team to develop and implement post-silicon test solutions for Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). The role focuses on silicon bring-up, verification, characterization, qualification, and production test support for high-performance SoCs.

Experience Level

Mid-level — approximately 5 years of relevant test or product engineering experience is expected.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include:

  • Define and implement silicon test requirements with internal design teams and external vendors.
  • Lead SoC NPI activities: bring-up, verification, characterization, and qualification support.
  • Develop and optimize test coverage; troubleshoot silicon test failures and issues.
  • Apply ATE expertise to improve test quality and support test program development.
  • Collaborate with design, DFT, and quality teams to establish post-silicon testing best practices.
  • Support production with test program upgrades, volume data analytics, and yield-improvement efforts.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical qualifications:

  • Must: ~5 years of experience in test engineering or product engineering, with hands-on ASIC/SoC test development, bring-up, or debug experience.
  • Must: Experience supporting chip production, test program upgrades, and using volume data for yield improvement.
  • Must: Practical experience with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) — familiarity with vendors such as Advantest or Teradyne.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with scan/ATPG development, memory BIST, and testing IPs (PLLs, PVT sensors, eFuse).
  • Nice-to-have: Extensive experience in silicon quality, reliability, or broader product engineering (examples cited up to 10 years for senior roles).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. A Master’s degree in a related technical field is preferred.
