ASIC Physical Design Staff Engineer (Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang)
Role Summary
Lead the physical implementation of high-speed interface IPs and test chips within the Mixed-Signal IP organization. Work across front-end, analog, CAD, and product teams to deliver timing- and sign-off-quality physical designs from RTL to GDSII.
This is an individual contributor/staff engineering role focused on execution, technical ownership, and improving physical design methodologies.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer; requires 5+ years of direct physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities for this position include technical leadership of physical implementation and delivery of production-quality IP.
- Lead physical implementation from RTL through GDSII, ensuring timing and physical sign-off.
- Collaborate with front-end, analog, CAD, verification, and product teams to integrate and validate IP.
- Perform STA, parasitic verification, EMIR checks and other sign-off activities to validate robustness.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers on the team.
- Drive process and methodology improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 5+ years of direct physical design experience (deep submicron IC design).
- Proven proficiency across the full implementation flow (placement, routing, clocking, ECOs, timing closure).
- Advanced P&R and sign-off skills, including STA, parasitic verification (PV), and EMIR.
- Strong understanding of IC implementation flows and methodologies for deep-submicron designs.
- Practical experience with Synopsys tools and industry-standard physical design toolflows.
- Excellent problem solving, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make timely technical decisions.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience with mixed-signal IPs or test-chip projects and demonstrated leadership in cross-functional projects.
Education Requirements
BE (Bachelor of Engineering) or MSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering) is specified. No other degree fields or equivalent-experience language was provided.
