ASIC Physical Design Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Lead physical implementation of high-speed mixed-signal IPs and test chips from RTL to GDSII, owning timing and physical sign-off. Work within the Mixed-Signal IP organization and collaborate with front-end, analog, CAD, and product teams to deliver production-ready designs that meet performance, power, and area targets.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 2+ years of direct physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead RTL-to-GDS physical implementation for high-speed interface IPs and test chips, achieving timing and physical sign-off.
- Collaborate with front-end, analog, CAD, and product teams to integrate and verify IP designs.
- Perform sign-off validation, including STA, parasitic verification (PV), and EMIR checks.
- Improve design methodologies, flows, and automation to increase efficiency and quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Proficiency in full ASIC physical design flow (implementation and verification from RTL to GDSII).
- Advanced place-and-route (PnR) skills and experience with sign-off flows (STA, PV, EMIR).
- Strong understanding of IC design, implementation flows, and deep-submicron design challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, make timely decisions, and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
BE or MSEE. The posting specifies 2+ years of direct physical design experience.
