ASIC Physical Design Senior Engineer

Role Summary

Senior ASIC Physical Design Engineer based in Yerevan responsible for leading physical implementation and signoff activities for ASIC/SoC projects. Works across floorplanning, placement, clock-tree synthesis, routing, timing closure and power/area optimization, and collaborates with RTL, verification, IP and CAD teams to deliver manufacturable designs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead physical implementation: floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing and optimization for ASIC designs.
• Drive timing closure and signoff; coordinate static timing analysis and physical verification (DRC/LVS) fixes.
• Optimize designs for power, performance and area; apply low-power and reliability techniques where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain flow automation and scripts to improve productivity and repeatability.
• Collaborate with RTL, verification, IP and CAD teams to resolve integration and timing issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process and tool improvements.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience (must-have vs nice-to-have):

• Must-have: Proven hands-on experience in ASIC physical design and signoff for production designs.
• Must-have: Practical experience with place-and-route and signoff flows and strong knowledge of timing closure, CTS, and physical verification.
• Must-have: Scripting and automation skills (Tcl and/or Python) to develop and maintain flows.
• Must-have: Ability to collaborate effectively across RTL, verification, IP and CAD teams and to lead technical decisions.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with specific P&R and STA tools, low-power design techniques, and complex SoC physical design.
