Role Summary
Implement and optimize physical design flows for space-grade system-on-chip (SoC) projects. Work on partitioning, synthesis, timing closure, and signoff while collaborating with RTL designers, verification, and cross-functional teams.
Contribute to robust, production-quality ASIC implementations for space and ground infrastructure.
Experience Level
Mid-level β approximately 3+ years of professional ASIC physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define partitioning and synthesis strategies for SoC blocks and top-level integration.
- Perform physical implementation tasks: placement, routing, and congestion management.
- Drive timing closure using static timing analysis and iterative optimization.
- Coordinate ECOs, design fixes, and signoff activities with RTL, verification, and tape-out teams.
- Prepare designs for manufacturing signoff and participate in design reviews and handoffs.
Requirements
Essential and desirable skills:

Must-have: 3+ years of ASIC physical design experience, including partitioning, synthesis flows, and timing closure.

Must-have: Practical experience with STA and physical verification flows (place-and-route and ECO processes).

Must-have: Scripting skills for flow automation (typical: Tcl, Python).

Nice-to-have: Experience with space-grade or high-reliability ASIC design methodologies and qualification processes.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with commercial P&R and signoff tool chains and automation of IC flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering (for example, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field) is required.
