ASIC Methodology Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the DTECH Methodology team within the Global SOC organization. Enable and maintain design analytics, STA methodology, and tooling to improve power, performance, area, and quality across SOC projects.
Experience Level
Mid-level (typical candidates have roughly 2β6 years of ASIC/VLSI experience depending on degree).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain static timing analysis (STA) methodology and signoff flows.
- Build, integrate, and scale design analytics and automation platforms and internal EDA tools.
- Work with core and SOC teams to diagnose timing, power, and implementation issues and drive fixes.
- Use and extend STA tools (e.g., PrimeTime, Tempus) to analyze and validate designs.
- Implement automation and tooling primarily in Python to streamline analyses and reporting.
- Collaborate with foundry enablement, low-power methodology, and RTL-to-GDSII teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Hands-on experience with STA tools such as PrimeTime or Tempus.
- Practical experience with ASIC/VLSI design tools and flows (timing, synthesis, P&R, verification).
- Analytical problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Experience with version control systems (Git or Perforce).
Preferred:
- Experience applying GenAI/LLMs or building agentic AI systems for tooling or developer workflows.
- Experience with place & route tools and deep understanding of the RTL-to-GDSII flow.
- Software architecture experience for building scalable platforms.
Education Requirements
Degrees and equivalent experience found in the posting: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (posting cites M.S./Ph.D. with ~1β2 years relevant experience). Minimum qualifications also allow: Bachelor's in Science/Engineering +4+ years experience; Master's +3+ years; PhD +2+ years. Fields: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical/science/engineering disciplines; equivalent practical experience accepted as specified.
