Job Title

ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer (Experienced, Lead, or Senior)

Role Summary

As an ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer on the Boeing Electronic Products team, you will develop and execute verification environments and testbenches for digital ICs/SoCs used across Boeing programs. The role focuses on SystemVerilog/UVM-based verification, coverage-driven validation, regression management, and FPGA prototyping to support delivery of production designs.

Positions are 100% onsite (El Segundo or Huntington Beach, CA; Fairfax, VA may be possible). U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance are required.

Experience Level

Experienced / Lead / Senior — Multiple levels are hired. Typical experience guidance: Experienced (Level 3) ~5+ years, Lead (Level 4) ~9–10+ years, Senior (Level 5) ~14–15+ years.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include building verification infrastructure, executing verification plans, and collaborating across design and system teams.

  • Design and implement verification environments using SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Develop self-checking, reusable testbenches employing OOP principles (inheritance, polymorphism).
  • Create functional coverage models and perform code coverage analysis.
  • Set up regression tests and collect coverage metrics; track verification progress.
  • Support FPGA-based prototyping and hardware validation as required.
  • Collaborate with design, system, and cross-functional teams to align verification strategy with project goals.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and hiring conditions are listed below; preferred skills follow.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of ASIC/FPGA verification experience (Experienced level; higher years expected for Lead/Senior).
  • Must-have: Proficiency with SystemVerilog and SystemVerilog Assertions; experience defining verification architecture with UVM.
  • Must-have: Experience implementing test plans and building drivers, monitors, scoreboards, and predictors.
  • Must-have: Experience creating functional coverage models and achieving code coverage closure.
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles applied to verification.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with waveform debug tools, regression setup, and revision control systems (svn, cvs, git).
  • Must-have: Comfortable working in Linux environments.
  • Must-have: U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain an interim and/or final U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with hardware emulators (e.g., Palladium), FPGA integration, high-speed SerDes (JESD204C, PCIe, Ethernet), and scripting (Make, Perl, Python).
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with space-based design techniques, radiation mitigation, and demonstrated first-pass ASIC success.
  • Other: Employer will not sponsor employment visas; relocation may be offered for eligible candidates; position is drug-tested and is 1st shift.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's or PhD for higher-level roles or equivalent combinations of education and experience. ABET accreditation is preferred where applicable. Equivalent practical experience is accepted per Boeing guidelines.
