ASIC/FPGA Engineer - Entry Level

Role Summary

Entry-level FPGA engineer responsible for defining, designing, verifying, and documenting FPGA developments for mission systems. Work with system and hardware teams to produce modules, run simulations, and validate device performance.

Experience Level

Entry-level (early career). Suitable for candidates beginning their professional career; typical experience range 0–3 years.

Responsibilities

Deliver FPGA designs from architecture through verification, and support evaluation of tools and device technologies.

  • Define architecture and detailed design approach for FPGA projects.
  • Design, simulate, synthesize, and implement FPGA modules; define module interfaces.
  • Create test and simulation plans to establish functional criteria and verify results.
  • Perform timing, power, and performance analysis.
  • Document designs and verification results.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation tools.

Requirements

Core qualifications and clearances required for the role.

  • Must-have: U.S. citizenship.
  • Must-have: Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Must-have: Working knowledge of FPGA development processes (architecture, simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis).
  • Ability to learn quickly and handle complex assignments with minimal direction.
  • Good written and verbal communication; ability to report on ASIC/FPGA design topics clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience identifying or applying AI techniques for process or design improvements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field is required. The posting does not specify acceptance of equivalent experience in place of the degree.
