Job Title

ASIC Engineering Technical Leader

Role Summary

Lead product test engineering for Cisco's Silicon One ASICs within Silicon Operations and the Central Hardware Group. Coordinate ASIC validation, production test strategy, and OSAT manufacturing test activities to ensure high-volume, high-quality silicon delivery.

Hybrid role based in Cisco's San Jose office; collaborates with ASIC design teams, NPI, test engineers, and external manufacturing partners.

Experience Level

Senior; requires approximately 9+ years of relevant experience in SoC/VLSI bring-up, characterization, qualification, or product engineering.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design and delivery of production test solutions, failure analysis, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Lead design, development, and testing of ASIC test solutions for Silicon One devices.
  • Work with Tier‑1 OSATs to manage high-volume production test and triage manufacturing failures.
  • Drive component failure analysis, containments, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and optimize characterization and production test plans, including test time and yield improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with ASIC design, NPI, and manufacturing teams to define test strategies and resolve issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and coordinate cross‑functional teams up to executive levels.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools, and behaviors for success.

  • 9+ years of experience in SoC/VLSI bring-up, characterization, qualification, or product engineering.
  • Proven experience with Advantest 93000 tester platforms (Smartest 7 and 8) for characterization and production testing.
  • Knowledge of DFT techniques: Scan, ATPG, JTAG, MBIST, PVT, and SerDes.
  • Experience with logic or SRAM characterization and voltage/frequency characterization.
  • Proficient in statistical data analysis (e.g., JMP) for yield and characterization analysis.
  • Experience in yield improvement and test time reduction initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work with manufacturing partners and drive technical solutions across organizations.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
