ASIC Engineer Intern, Implementation
Role Summary
Join Meta's Infrastructure organization as an ASIC Engineer Intern focused on implementation and physical design for data‑center accelerators. Contribute to RTL optimization, implementation/emulation, physical design, EDA infrastructure, and design power estimation to improve Power, Performance, Area (PPA).
Internships are 12–16 weeks and provide hands‑on experience working with senior ASIC engineers on production‑scale accelerator projects.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate engineering programs.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementation support, tooling, and validation.
- Participate in design implementation, physical design, and design power reviews and provide feedback.
- Contribute to RTL optimization to achieve target PPA and support implementation/physical design.
- Develop scripts, tools, and methods to enhance PPA.
- Support and develop EDA infrastructure to improve designer productivity.
- Support simulation accelerators and post‑silicon validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and employment conditions; preferred skills are listed separately.
- Knowledge of Verilog, VHDL, or HLS.
- Understanding of computer architecture and logic design fundamentals.
- Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment.
- Preferred: experience with lint, synthesis, formal verification, or physical design tools.
- Preferred: scripting capability with Python or Perl.
- Preferred: experience with high performance computing or digital signal processing techniques.
- Strong problem solving skills and creativity.
Education Requirements
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field (minimum). Preferred candidates may be pursuing a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields. The role expects intent to return to an academic degree program after completion of the internship.
