Role Summary
Join Amazon's Annapurna Labs team as an ASIC Engineer I intern to design and verify digital logic for custom silicon used in Amazon services. You will work across architecture, verification, and physical design to move features from specification into validated implementation.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for students graduating by May 2027 or earlier; suitable for new graduates or students with relevant project or lab experience.
Responsibilities
Contribute to RTL design, verification, and the implementation flow for ASIC features. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement RTL for digital logic blocks using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Develop and run verification environments to validate design functionality and coverage.
- Support synthesis, timing analysis, and physical design flows.
- Debug design issues through simulation and analysis.
- Collaborate with architecture, verification, and physical design teams to transition features from specification to silicon.
- Document design decisions and present work to the team.
Requirements
Essential and preferred technical skills. Education is listed separately.
- Must-have: Coursework or project experience in digital logic design and computer architecture.
- Must-have: Familiarity with a hardware description language (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL).
- Must-have: Understanding of combinational and sequential logic, finite state machines, timing, and clocking.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, or equivalent).
- Nice-to-have: Scripting for automation (Python, Perl, TCL, or shell).
- Nice-to-have: Prior internship, research, or lab experience in chip design, embedded systems, or hardware development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; students graduating by May 2027 or earlier. Relevant coursework, projects, or equivalent practical experience are acceptable.
