ASIC Engineer, Formal Verification
Role Summary
Work on formal verification for IP and SoC designs used in Meta's data center infrastructure. The role owns formal verification scope, develops formal test plans and reusable environments, and drives sign-off for complex blocks.
Collaborate with architecture, RTL design, emulation, software and post-silicon teams to enable first-pass silicon success.
Experience Level
Senior - requires substantial experience (posting requests 8+ years in design verification and 5+ years in formal verification).
Responsibilities
Lead formal verification efforts across IP, subsystem and SoC levels and enable others to use formal methods.
- Provide technical leadership and evangelize formal verification methodology.
- Define formal verification scope and develop formal environments and test plans.
- Create reusable, scalable formal verification environments and deploy tools.
- Work with architecture and design teams to derive formal specifications and properties.
- Evaluate and recommend EDA solutions for formal verification.
- Train and mentor engineers on formal verification techniques.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are listed separately.
- 8+ years of experience in design verification and 5+ years specifically in formal verification.
- Experience with formal verification applications: datapath, sequential equivalence, Xprop, clock gating, connectivity.
- Proven knowledge of formal methodologies, complexity reduction and abstraction techniques.
- Strong analytical skills for solving complex design verification problems.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (design, architecture, software).
- Fluent in hardware description languages such as SystemVerilog and SVA.
- Proficient in scripting (Python, Perl, or Tcl).
- Experience with formal tool flows such as JasperGold or VC-Formal.
Preferred:
- Experience building fully automated verification flows from specification to sign-off.
- Experience extracting properties from hardware specifications and verifying complex SoCs.
- Formal experience in clock domain crossing, IP-XACT based register verification, and low-power verification.
- Experience with simulators, waveform debugging tools, and formal property verification of compute blocks (DSP, CPU, GPU, accelerators).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
