Job Title

ASIC Engineer 2

Role Summary

Design and validate ASIC controller features and work with cross-functional architecture, verification, and physical implementation teams to deliver silicon. The role focuses on defining requirements, evaluating implementation trade-offs (area, performance, power, ease of implementation), and supporting product teams through code reviews and silicon debug.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Candidates are expected to have practical ASIC design and verification experience consistent with a mid-career engineer.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include defining requirements, reviewing implementations, and improving design quality.

  • Define requirements for ASIC design, verification, and physical implementation teams.
  • Evaluate trade-offs across area, performance, power, and implementation complexity.
  • Review product and firmware requirements and translate them into ASIC features and data/control flows.
  • Collaborate with ASIC and system architects to define controller architecture and IP component responsibilities.
  • Review and configure third-party IPs and review other ASIC teams' deliverables.
  • Support product teams with documentation, design/code reviews, and silicon bring-up/debug.
  • Analyze component and subsystem performance; review implemented logic and suggest architectural improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Scripting/programming: Perl, Python, C, or Unix shell scripting.
  • Hardware description languages: Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • RTL design and verification experience.
