ASIC Digital Design Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for functional verification of RTL IP cores using SystemVerilog and UVM. Work within the Bangalore IPG and SSG team to build reusable testbenches, develop verification plans, and drive coverage closure for IP used in AI, automotive, and cloud systems.
Your verification will reduce customer-facing bugs and accelerate IP release cycles.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 4–8 years of hands-on ASIC or RTL verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain UVM-based testbenches: agents, drivers, monitors, scoreboards, and coverage collectors.
- Write SystemVerilog testcases and constrained-random stimulus to verify functional correctness across modes and protocol scenarios.
- Develop and execute verification plans, identify corner cases, and set coverage goals.
- Debug RTL and testbench issues using simulation logs, waveforms, and coverage reports to isolate root causes and verify fixes.
- Implement assertions and functional coverage models to track verification progress.
- Collaborate with design engineers to clarify requirements and improve design-for-verification.
- Run regressions, analyze results, and document verification status and outstanding issues.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- 4–8 years of hands-on ASIC or RTL verification experience for IP cores or digital designs.
- Proven experience with UVM or similar verification methodology and building testbench components.
- Strong SystemVerilog skills including constrained-random verification, coverage, and assertions.
- Familiarity with at least one industry protocol (e.g., MIPI UFS/UniPro, DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, USB).
- Experience debugging RTL simulations with waveform viewers and analyzing coverage reports.
- Experience with Perforce or similar version control systems.
- Basic scripting skills (Python, Perl, TCL, or shell) to support automation and regression management.
- Good communication, team collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to aid analysis and debugging.
