ASIC Digital Design Senior Staff Engineer
SynopsysJob Title
ASIC Digital Design Senior Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Lead DFT (Design-for-Testability) efforts for complex ASIC projects, focusing on scan insertion, ATPG, and scan STA to ensure testability and manufacturability. Work within a DFT engineering team and partner with RTL, verification, and cross-functional groups to integrate test requirements early and improve design flows.
Experience Level
Senior-level. 3 610 years of hands-on DFT / ASIC digital design experience (as stated in the job posting).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include ownership of DFT implementation, validation, and process improvement.
- Lead and execute scan insertion and ATPG flows for complex ASIC designs.
- Integrate DFT requirements with RTL and verification teams early in the design cycle.
- Analyze and resolve DFT-related issues using tools such as Spyglass DFT.
- Perform scan static timing analysis (scan STA) to validate timing closure and optimize testability paths.
- Define and implement DFT best practices and flows across projects.
- Improve and maintain automation scripts and design flows to reduce turnaround time.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers on DFT techniques.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed after must-haves.
- 3 610 years of hands-on experience in DFT methodologies, including scan insertion and ATPG (must-have).
- Proficiency with industry EDA DFT tools such as Spyglass DFT and scan STA analysis suites (must-have).
- Strong understanding of digital logic design, RTL coding, and verification principles (must-have).
- Demonstrated ability to debug and resolve DFT-related issues across project phases (must-have).
- Scripting skills for automation (TCL, Perl, Python) (must-have).
- Experience improving automation and design/test flows to increase efficiency (nice-to-have).
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional, global teams and to mentor junior engineers (nice-to-have).
