Job Title
ASIC DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Common Hardware Group (CHG) within the Silicon One development organization as an ASIC Design-for-Test (DFT) Engineer. You will define and implement testability features, develop DFT IP, and collaborate with front-end RTL and back-end physical design teams to enable chip test, debug, and post-silicon validation.
Experience Level
Senior — requires at least 7 years of relevant ASIC/DFT/silicon engineering experience per the job posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, integration, and validation of DFT and test infrastructure across implementation and post-silicon phases.
- Define and implement DFT features to support ATE, in-system test, debug and diagnostics.
- Develop and integrate DFT IP in collaboration with RTL, verification, and physical design teams.
- Drive testability requirements early in the design cycle and coordinate full-chip integration of test logic.
- Support gate-level simulation, test timing validation, and physical-design signoff related to DFT.
- Lead post-silicon validation and debug, including ATE pattern use and validation of test flows.
- Troubleshoot and craft solutions with minimal mentorship.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools; preferred items listed separately.
Must-have:
- Practical experience with JTAG protocols, scan methodologies, and various BIST architectures (including memory BIST and boundary scan).
- Experience with ATPG and DFT/EDA toolsets such as TestMax, Tetramax, Tessent, and PrimeTime.
- Gate-level simulation and debug experience using simulators like VCS.
- Post-silicon validation and debug experience, including working with ATE patterns and IEEE P1687 (iJTAG).
Nice-to-have:
- Verilog/SystemVerilog experience for developing custom DFT logic and IP integration.
- DFT CAD development experience: test architecture, methodology and infrastructure.
- Test static timing analysis and system-level logic equivalency checking.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. (The posting specifies a Bachelor's or Master’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.)
