Job Title
ASIC Design Verification Engineer, TPU Cloud Compute
Role Summary
Work on the TPU Cloud Compute verification team to plan and execute verification for digital ASIC blocks used in Google’s AI/ML accelerators. The role focuses on developing SystemVerilog/UVM test environments, closing coverage, and debugging RTL with design engineers toward tape-out.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically around 3–7 years of relevant experience; the posting requests approximately 4 years of design verification experience.
Responsibilities
Own verification planning, environment development, and coverage closure for complex digital blocks; collaborate with designers to debug and finalize RTL prior to tape-out.
- Plan verification strategy from specifications and identify key scenarios and corner cases.
- Develop constrained-random verification environments using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Define and implement coverage metrics for stimulus and corner cases; track and close coverage gaps.
- Debug failing tests and functional issues with design engineers to resolve RTL defects.
- Drive verification progress and demonstrate readiness for tape-out.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for this role.
- Approximately 4 years of hands-on design verification experience.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and familiarity with Verilog.
- Experience in the full verification lifecycle: test planning, environment development, coverage collection and closure.
- Experience verifying RTL using SystemVerilog/UVM for ASIC projects; involvement in 2+ SoC projects/cycles preferred.
- Practical knowledge of ASIC standard interfaces and memory system architecture.
- Strong debugging skills for complex digital designs and ability to collaborate with design engineers.
- Familiarity with industry-standard silicon development tools and methodologies.
- Nice-to-have: experience with multiple SoC cycles and advanced verification methodologies or tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field is listed as preferred. No specific certifications were mentioned.
