Cisco SystemsJob Title
ASIC Design Verification Engineer I
Role Summary
Join Cisco's Silicon One team to verify ASICs used in data center switching, routing, and wireless platforms. The role focuses on developing and maintaining design verification environments to ensure functional correctness and performance of ASIC blocks and SoCs.
The engineer will work with verification engineers, designers, hardware, and cross-functional teams to verify designs in simulation, emulation, and during ASIC bring-up.
Experience Level
Entry-level - targeted at recent graduates or engineers with approximately 0β3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary verification responsibilities include:
- Maintain and enhance existing design verification (DV) environments.
- Design and implement testbenches including scoreboards, agents, sequencers, and monitors.
- Write test plans and develop test cases to exercise design functionality.
- Run regressions, debug failures, and drive modules to verification closure.
- Implement and review functional and code coverage to ensure verification completeness.
- Verify designs using simulation, emulation, and participate in ASIC bring-up activities.
- Collaborate with designers and hardware engineers to integrate and validate blocks/clusters within SoCs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog and UVM methodology for verification.
- Must-have: Scripting experience in Perl and/or Python for test automation.
- Must-have: Experience building and debugging testbenches, writing test plans, and closing regressions.
- Must-have: Understanding of functional coverage and constrained-random verification concepts.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with emulation platforms such as Veloce or HAPS.
- Nice-to-have: Experience verifying complex blocks, clusters, or top-level SoC functionality.
- Nice-to-have: Strong verbal and written communication skills to work across teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in ASIC Design, Design Verification, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; degree should be completed within the past 3 years or expected within the next 12 months. The posting allows qualifying education and/or relevant work experience in ASIC engineering or verification.
