Role Summary

ByteDance's San Jose technology team is hiring a graduate ASIC design engineer to develop video codec hardware and video-processing IP. The role focuses on RTL/HLS implementation and verification of high-performance, low-power accelerators used in large-scale video applications.

Responsibilities

Core engineering responsibilities for this role include design, collaboration, and verification of video IP.

• Design hardware accelerators for video encoding and processing optimized for performance and power.
• Implement RTL (SystemVerilog) or High Level Synthesis (HLS) designs for video-processing blocks.
• Work with architecture, algorithm, and verification teams to integrate and refine IP.
• Develop and execute verification plans using UVM, SystemC, or DPI where applicable.
• Automate design and verification tasks using Python and development tooling.
• Contribute to design reviews, trade-off analysis, and performance tuning.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and desirable extras.

• Must-have: Knowledge of video codecs and video processing concepts.
• Must-have: RTL design experience (SystemVerilog) or HLS experience.
• Must-have: Proficient programming in Python for automation.
• Must-have: Familiarity with verification methodologies (UVM) and/or SystemC/DPI.
• Nice-to-have: Prior ASIC design experience or exposure to low-power/high-performance design techniques.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is expected — degree may be completed or in progress.
