Job Title

ASIC Design Engineer – Fabric/Interconnect

Role Summary

Design and integrate coherent and non-coherent on-chip interconnects and associated memory hierarchy into a subsystem or SoC. The role owns RTL development, IP integration, and cross-functional coordination (synthesis/STA, power/performance, verification) to deliver production-quality silicon blocks on schedule.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0+ years relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL design, integration, and delivery of interconnect and memory-related blocks within an SoC.

  • Design and integrate coherent and non-coherent fabrics into a subsystem or SoC (NoC topologies, crossbars, arbitration).
  • Own RTL development workflow: templating, scripting, and RTL generation.
  • Integrate common/shared IP and optimize memories and hard macros for the block.
  • Work with front-end synthesis and STA teams to meet timing closure for the block.
  • Collaborate with power/performance and functional verification teams to ensure block quality.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary groups to incorporate design checks and meet delivery schedules.

Requirements

Technical must-haves and useful preferences are listed below.

Must-have:

  • Practical knowledge of on-chip interconnect architectures and system memory hierarchy.
  • Strong RTL design skills and experience with scripting/templating for RTL generation.
  • Experience integrating IP blocks and optimizing memory/hard macro usage.
  • Familiarity with timing closure processes and working with synthesis/STA teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with verification, power, and performance teams and communicate across groups.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of cache coherency protocols (MESI, MOESI, directory-based coherence).
  • Track record delivering large, low-power designs in high-volume production.
  • Familiarity with front-end tools such as lint, CDC analysis, and synthesis flows.
  • Self-starter, highly organized and schedule-driven.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) required. The posting specifies a minimum of BS plus 0 years relevant industry experience. No specific field of study or mention of equivalent practical experience was provided.
