Job Title
ASIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement RTL for digital and mixed-signal blocks with emphasis on power-, area- and performance-efficient solutions. Work on pre-silicon front-end design, synthesis, timing and power analysis, and collaborate across verification, synthesis/STA and physical design teams to deliver advanced memory products.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Posting indicates typically 3β4+ years of relevant pre-silicon RTL design experience (see Education Requirements for degree-specific guidance).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop RTL in SystemVerilog for digital and mixed-signal blocks from specification through implementation handoff.
- Perform front-end quality checks: lint, CDC/RDC, synthesis, UPF-based power intent, and timing quality-of-result.
- Design and optimize RTL for power and area, reducing switching activity, clock power, and leakage.
- Execute RTL- and gate-level power and timing evaluations to identify and resolve PPA bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with verification, synthesis, and physical design teams to achieve timing closure and meet design targets.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on pre-silicon RTL design experience developing complex digital IP through implementation handoff.
- Practical experience with ASIC low-power methodologies, including UPF-based power intent and CDC/RDC analysis.
- Strong understanding of front-end flows: RTL design, synthesis, and static timing analysis.
- Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and industry-standard simulation tools.
- Experience using synthesis and timing/power analysis tools to evaluate PPA trade-offs.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RTL and gate-level power analysis tools (for example, Design Compiler and PrimeTime).
- Knowledge of low-power design techniques such as clock gating, power gating, and multi-voltage designs.
- Familiarity with CMOS digital and mixed-signal concepts and experience with memory or high-performance digital builds.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (field not specified) with 4+ years of pre-silicon RTL design experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience.
