ASIC CAD Engineer — Front-end and DFT Flows
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
ASIC CAD Engineer — Front-end and DFT Flows
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and supporting front-end RTL, synthesis, and DFT methodologies for AMD's next-generation FPGA-SoC products at advanced technology nodes (3nm and 2nm). The role interfaces with global design teams and EDA vendors to implement, validate, and maintain automated flows and tool integrations.
Work is on a small, technical CAD team focused on flow development, automation, and improving RTL/netlist quality across lint, CDC, formal, and DFT checks.
Experience Level
Mid-level — 4–6 years of relevant CAD flow and methodology experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ownership, development, and support of front-end and DFT flows and automation for advanced-node FPGA/SoC designs.
- Develop and maintain front-end design, synthesis, and DFT methodologies for advanced technology nodes.
- Collaborate with RTL design teams to improve RTL and netlist quality (lint, CDC, formal verification, DFT coverage).
- Script and deliver utilities to automate flow steps and improve productivity.
- Enhance flows for monolithic and stacked FPGA-SoC product families.
- Work with EDA vendors to identify solutions and track methodology issues.
- Leverage corporate AI/automation tools to streamline workflows and increase throughput.
- Debug and troubleshoot tool and flow failures; implement robust solutions and documentation.
Requirements
Practical skills and tools experience required to perform the role.
- Hands-on experience with front-end and DFT flows.
- Experience with industry-standard lint, CDC/RDC, and DFT tools.
- Experience in CAD flow and methodology development for advanced nodes (3nm/2nm).
- Proficient scripting skills: Python, Perl, and TCL for flow automation and debugging.
- Strong debugging, analytical skills, and a CAD/automation mindset.
- Ability to collaborate with EDA vendors and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with synthesis and STA.
Education Requirements
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering.
