Role Summary

Define security architecture and deployment models for high-performance ASICs used in Meta's data centers and in public cloud environments. The role sits on the silicon team within Infrastructure and focuses on enabling secure, high-efficiency hardware accelerators for machine learning, networking, and related workloads.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests 6+ years of relevant experience in defining and delivering multiple production ASICs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing security features and validating secure operation across hardware and software stacks.

• Architect ASIC security subsystems for deployment in Meta data centers and public cloud (e.g., TEE, Virtual Device Composition, SIOV).
• Define architectural features that enable secure operation in untrusted/public environments.
• Identify workloads and microbenchmarks to validate secure operation across deployment scenarios.
• Collaborate with RTL design, design verification, firmware/software, pre/post-silicon validation, and program management to deliver first-pass functional silicon.
• Work with software and firmware teams to achieve end-to-end security goals while maintaining development efficiency.
• Support post-silicon bring-up and new product introduction to validate and configure security features.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• 6+ years defining and delivering multiple high-performance ASICs into production, with direct experience in ASIC security technologies and standards.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture: microprocessor architecture, memory systems, and on-chip interconnect networks.
• Experience with security systems and protocols such as Trusted Execution Environments (TEE), Virtual Device Composition (VDC), and related technologies.
• Experience designing ASICs for data center and public cloud deployment and understanding of associated threat models.
• Proven ability to collaborate across RTL, verification, firmware/software, validation, and program management teams to meet aggressive schedules.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with machine-learning or networking accelerators and modern process technologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
