Job Title

ASIC Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver analog mixed-signal IP and high-speed PHYs used in Micron tester and controller applications. The role spans circuit architecture, schematic design, simulation verification, layout oversight, silicon bring-up, and cross-team coordination.

Team focuses on high-speed PHYs in deep sub-micron CMOS/FinFET technologies.

Experience Level

Mid-level - candidates across multiple experience levels will be considered; no specific years of experience stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include analog circuit design, verification, layout supervision, silicon characterization, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Propose circuit architectures, define electrical specifications, draw schematics, and verify designs through simulation.
  • Supervise complex analog layout and define block floorplans; investigate parasitics and resolve layout-related performance issues.
  • Present complex engineering ideas, design choices, and tradeoffs to design teams and customers.
  • Explore design-space tradeoffs and provide feedback on alternative circuit architectures and specifications.
  • Align requirements and provide feedback to package and board teams.
  • Plan and participate in silicon bring-up and characterization; correlate results with simulation.
  • Work with validation to design tests, analyze data, and resolve silicon debug issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools are listed below; preferred skills follow.

Must-have:

  • ASIC analog design experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in analog and mixed-signal design and advanced CMOS/FinFET technologies.
  • Deep understanding of analog/mixed-signal circuits and architectural tradeoffs for high-speed SerDes and PHYs.
  • Experience with mismatch analysis, Monte Carlo methods, transistor-level noise analysis, and device physics for deep sub-micron nodes.
  • Experience with industry-standard tools and flows such as Cadence ADE, Spectre, AMS verification, EM/IR flows, MATLAB, and Pegasus.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, power delivery, and ESD fundamentals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in using AI-enabled automation to improve design efficiency and a willingness to learn and contribute.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience designing circuits to standards for high-speed memory interfaces (DDR3/4/5, LPDDR3/4x/5, GDDR5/6) or SerDes interfaces (PCIe, M-PHY, HDMI, USB, SATA).
  • Prior ownership of a full sub-block (PLL, DLL, CDR, high-speed receiver with equalization, transmitter front end, or high-speed data path).
  • System-level modeling experience using Verilog-A or Python.

Education Requirements

B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
