Architecture Energy Modeling Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
Architecture Energy Modeling Engineer
Role Summary
Develop energy models and methodologies that quantify and reduce power consumption across NVIDIA GPUs and Tegra SoCs. Work with architects, performance and software engineers, ASIC and physical design teams to integrate models into simulators, RTL, and emulation platforms.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting requests candidates with roughly 3+ years of relevant experience (MS + 3+ years or equivalent practical experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities focus on building and validating energy models, integrating them into design and verification flows, and using analytics to drive architectural and power-management improvements.
- Develop and maintain energy models for architectural simulators, RTL simulation, and emulation platforms.
- Create methodologies and workflows to select workloads and train models using machine learning or statistical techniques.
- Improve model accuracy across process, timing, floorplan, and layout variations; correlate estimates across design stages toward silicon.
- Build tools to debug energy inefficiencies seen on silicon, RTL, and simulators and collaborate with architects to remediate them.
- Integrate energy models into performance, verification, and emulation infrastructure.
- Prototype architectural features, produce energy models for them, and analyze system-level impact.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred. Education requirements are listed separately below.
- Strong programming skills, preferably Python and C++ (must-have).
- Background in machine learning, AI, or statistical modeling for model training and analysis (must-have).
- Interest and practical understanding of computer architecture and energy-efficient GPU design (must-have).
- Ability to formulate and analyze algorithms, including runtime and memory complexity (must-have).
- Good verbal and written English and strong interpersonal communication (must-have).
- Familiarity with Verilog and ASIC design principles (nice-to-have).
- Experience integrating models into emulation, RTL, or architectural simulator infrastructures (nice-to-have).
Education Requirements
MS degree with 3+ years of related experience, or equivalent practical experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in place of the listed degree requirement.
