Architect - System Performance Verification and Analysis
NVIDIAJob Title
Architect - System Performance Verification and Analysis
Role Summary
Lead system-level performance verification and analysis for GPU/CPU SoC platforms across pre-silicon and post-silicon stages. Work with architecture, design, and verification teams to validate real-world performance and identify bottlenecks.
The role spans performance models, RTL simulation, emulation platforms, and silicon bring-up to ensure products meet target performance for customer workloads.
Experience Level
Senior; 3+ years of relevant experience in SoC or system-level architecture, performance verification, or hardware validation.
Responsibilities
Accountable for end-to-end SoC performance verification and for surfacing data-driven recommendations to architecture and design teams.
- Partner with system architecture, modeling, unit architecture, and design/verification teams to define performance test plans reflecting real product use cases.
- Drive full-chip performance verification across engines and subsystems using realistic concurrent workloads.
- Execute tests across cycle-accurate models, RTL simulation, emulation platforms, and silicon; identify regressions and bottlenecks at each stage.
- Debug performance failures via waveform analysis, signal-level queries, trace analysis, and system-level profiling to root-cause issues in memory subsystems, fabric, or engines.
- Provide performance data and trade-off analysis to influence architecture and microarchitecture decisions early in the development cycle.
- Develop and maintain performance workloads, test suites, simulators, analysis scripts, and automated regression flows.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools and automation to accelerate analysis, triage regressions, and improve coverage.
- Drive methodology improvements to reduce verification turnaround time and enable earlier performance insight.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Experience in SoC or system-level architecture, performance verification, or hardware validation.
- Strong understanding of SoC architecture: GPU and CPU pipelines, cache and DRAM controllers, coherency, NoC/fabric, and high-speed I/O.
- Hands-on RTL simulation and debug experience, including waveform-based debugging and signal-level queries.
- Programming skills in Python and C/C++; scripting (Bash/Python) for automation and analysis.
- Strong debugging, data analysis, and statistical analysis skills to synthesize large volumes of performance data into actionable insights.
- Exposure to pre-silicon performance analysis methodologies: performance models, cycle-approximate simulators, or emulation platforms.
- Effective communication skills for working in large, globally distributed engineering organizations.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog or SystemC/TLM.
- Deep RTL-level performance debug and precise signal-query formulation skills.
- Background in GPU, AI accelerator, or high-bandwidth memory subsystem performance analysis.
- Demonstrated use of AI/LLM-assisted tools or building ML/AI-assisted tooling for engineering productivity or regression analysis.
- Data visualization and dashboarding experience to present performance trends to stakeholders.
Education Requirements
B.E./B.Tech or M.S./M.Tech (or equivalent practical experience) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
